Sorrento is at Kowloon Station, and this minimalist interior design is for a children’s room of around 103 sq ft shared by two children, aged 3 and 5. We divided the room into two zones, one in pink and one in blue-grey, so each child has their own bed and desk while sharing a single run of wardrobes. The images below are design renderings.
Pink zone: loft bed and window desk
The pink zone has a loft bed with a scalloped guard along the upper level and storage stairs beside the lower bed, where a narrow shelf holds picture books. A floating pink desk by the window comes with drawers and a lamp, and a white pegboard with hooks gives coats and school bags a fixed place. The white full-height wardrobe is dotted with round pink handles, and a pink lower band hides scuffs and ties the colours together.
Pegboard and blue-grey zone
A dark grey pegboard divides the two zones. Its timber shelves and hooks can be moved at any time to hold toy cars and small objects, so the children can arrange it themselves. In the blue-grey zone, the desk joins the pegboard and a bookshelf, with a strip light tucked beneath the shelf, and a pixel-art panel above the bed gives this side a character all its own. The lit, open wardrobe base takes a balance bike and a pushchair.
Two children sharing a room need not have identical halves. Colour marks out each zone, while the wardrobe and pegboard tie them together: a room with boundaries that still reads as one, softened by timber-effect flooring and daylight filtered through blinds.
