Tierra Verde is in Tsing Yi. This children’s room of about 102 sq ft is shared by two children, aged 3 and 5, and its interior design follows a minimalist style. A custom bunk bed is the core of the scheme, gathering sleep, study and storage into one piece of joinery so the floor stays open for play. Off-white, pale timber and soft textiles form a quiet material palette. The images below are design renderings.
Bunk bed and storage stairs
The bunk runs along the wall. The lower bed sits in its own alcove, with a concealed strip of warm light at the headboard for evening reading and a row of drawers underneath. The stairs to the upper bed are built as cabinets, with storage in every step: safer than a ladder, and the space below the stairs is put to use. The upper guard rail is a solid panel with a single horizontal opening, clean in line and never closed in.
Window desk and wardrobe
The desk runs along the window, wide enough for two to sit side by side in good daylight, beneath a colourful leaf print. Open shelves beside it hold books and small objects, and the window sill extends into a low bench. On the other side, the full-height wardrobe sits flush with the door, whose herringbone line finish echoes the herringbone floor and gives the room a quiet pattern.
When two children share a room, each needs a place of their own. As they grow, the desk and wardrobe stay; only the bedding and the objects change.
