Baekmidang occupies Shop 1 at The Peak Galleria, 118 Peak Road, on The Peak. The interior design for this food and beverage space follows a new Chinese luxury style, setting Eastern character alongside contemporary comfort. With no full-height walls to enclose it beside the mall concourse, the shop is defined instead by timber frames, shelving and a single dark counter.
Timber-framed dining area
Square timber posts and beams form a series of open frames over the seating, dividing it into zones in the manner of a covered walkway. Beneath them sit tall timber tables, low stools, benches and chairs with backs, so seating heights vary across the space. The timber keeps a straight grain and a pale tone against the light floor tiles, and because the frames are open, sightlines run straight through: the whole shop can be read from the escalators.
Counter and lattice shelving
At the centre is a heavy, dark textured counter with separate points for ordering and collection, the anchor of the composition, with the shop name hung above it on a timber beam. Behind it, a wall of timber lattice shelving is lit from within, its vertical grid sharpened by the glow. A curved ceiling feature follows the outline of the shop, and a curved line on the floor marks its edge, echoing the rounded counter. By the entrance, a freestanding timber shelving unit with drawers and open compartments displays products, supported by a slim metal-legged display table.
Traditional timber construction and contemporary lines meet here in an atmosphere that is elegant and layered, balancing spatial flow, practicality and visual appeal.
