Laguna Verde is in Hung Hom. In this children’s room of about 75 sq ft, white and pale timber set a restrained, minimalist base for the interior design, so the room can grow with its owner. The images below are design renderings, showing how three pieces of joinery, the headboard, the desk and the wardrobe, share a small floor area.
Headboard and window desk
The headboard is edged with a curved upholstered panel in vertical sections that extends on both sides into floating bedside shelves, lit from beneath, each with a wall lamp for reading. Above the headboard, white wall cabinets sit over a long open shelf with concealed lighting for books, toys and storage boxes. The desk runs along the window and floats clear of the floor, keeping the room open and giving good daylight for study. A ceiling cove keeps the evening light soft.
Wardrobe and shelving
A white full-height wardrobe fills one wall, finished at its edge with timber open shelves for books and small objects so the wall of doors does not feel heavy. The open timber base takes a balance bike and other larger items. Two timber shelves on the wall beside the bed and a concealed cove in the ceiling keep the light soft. A black-framed reeded-glass door connects the room to the corridor, letting light through while keeping privacy.
Designing a room to last is less about a theme than about durability and flexibility. A simple base leaves room for the owner to add their own style over time; white and pale timber wear well, and new bedding, pictures or books are enough to change the mood.
