Lido Garden is in Sham Tseng. This room of about 55 sq ft belongs to a six-year-old, and its interior design follows a minimalist palette of pale timber and white. The floor area is compact, so the design uses a loft bed to make the most of the height, and soft curves give the room a warm character. The images below are design renderings.
Cloud loft and arched headboard
The bed sits beneath the loft, framed by an arched timber headboard with concealed warm light, like a small nook to tuck into. The underside of the loft is lined in timber with recessed downlights. The upper guard is cut in a cloud outline with a round window, visible from the door. Storage stairs lead up, with a drawer in every step and room on the treads for small toys, and a large drawer under the bed pulls out to hold building blocks.
Wall storage and corner desk
A low cabinet beside the bed holds toy baskets at a height the child can tidy on their own, with open bookshelves above, and the timber lining continues to the door. The window desk turns the corner, with open cubbies beneath for picture books and baskets and curved floating shelves above, lit from below. It meets a full-height white wardrobe whose open, lit base is just right for a balance bike.
Fifty-five square feet can hold more than a bed. Curves soften the space, and storage set at a child’s height helps them learn to look after their own room. With pale timber and white as the base, a change of soft furnishings lets the room grow up with its owner.
