Yinka Ilori’s forty-piece Dunelm collection uses vivid colours, rounded forms and references to the 1960s and 1970s. Application in a Hong Kong home of around 400 square feet requires adjustments to proportion.

Colour area and visual hierarchy

Saturated orange, yellow and blue establish character. Daylight, walls and furniture size influence the result. A 60-30-10 distribution of primary, secondary and accent colours can support comparison without becoming a fixed formula.

Materials and use

Fabric, metal legs and frames have different cost and maintenance characteristics. Faux leather, velvet and curved sofas such as the Half Moon design should be considered against humidity, cleaning and fabrication.

Lighting and function

Reading, cooking and atmosphere need different lighting. Adjustable colour temperatures from 2700K to 4000K offer one approach to these situations.
